Block of Wood
Standing alone in the corner,
I glance around frantically,
Just hoping someone will notice me.
But no one sees me.
So large but never heard,
Not that I even say a word.
I want them to listen so I heave,
And heave.
But no one hears me.
Every night I cry myself to sleep.
Tears fall but no one sees,
Like brown, orange, and green summer leaves.
But no one hears me.
Then one day I speak aloud,
I yell, I scream, I make sound,
But no one can hear me,
And no one will hear me.
