If we were caught of guard
In the middle of the day
You know, sort of like
A modern day version of Pompeii

And the ashes were lifted
From our cities and streets
Do you think they would find
The meaningless things?

Music of no value
And tabloids of untruth
The lying politician
On the polling booth?

If we took a snapshot
Of our nation today
Would we need Photoshop
To take blemishes away?

A few things to ponder
Before resting tonight
Our lives are out stories
So what will you write?

I titled the piece "The Commercial Break" because it's aim is to have people pause and look at our society, analyze the work and wake up to what it's alarming you to, and then to resume programming with new found knowledge.
