The rock
A single piece of stone sitting in the yard behind your house
A rock
A foundation holding together everything composed of the structure
I am the rock in my relationships and bonds
Within my family I am the direct connection between my two older brothers who seem to be from different families
With friends, I hold down the fort, the mediator, not always a leader, but the support
The rock is never cracked, chipped some but, never broken
The rock has chalk from little kids, built up bland but happy, full of life
One day the rock that is me will be worn down into a perfect smooth oval stone
Picked up
Skipped across the ocean to ride the currents and land on a beach somewhere unknown
So whoever finds me will keep me
I will be their foundation until I need to be skipped again
