I Wish It Was Summer Vacation

I wish it was summer vacation.
It would be very warm.
I would curl up on the couch
and read a book
during a terrible storm

In June and August I'd be in a play
and in July I'd be at camp
I'd work very hard
and sing very loud
I'd be such a tramp

But I'm still trapped at school
in Mr Smith's class
I'm yearning to be free
to play in the sun,
even sit through a Sunday mass.

How I wish it was summer vacation!
To be done with my middle school days!
But if it was summer vacation,
I'd be bored in several ways.

The author's comments:
Sometimes school can be kind of boring or my friends would be annoying and I'd be so anxious to be out of school because next year I'm not going to the same high school as my friends. So I'm just trying to make it through the school year.

So in english class our teacher, Mr Smith, assigns us another journal entry. The journal was free choice. So I decided to write a poem. When I got my journal back a week later, I read the comments that Mr Smith wrote. "I like the creativity."

So then I remembered last year when I was in Mrs Arnolts' Writing Workshop class and how we all wrote poems and sent them into the Teen Ink website, thus resulting in me posting my poem on this website.

Enjoy :)
