The Sunshine Fairy
Deep in lifeless forests,
And fields fabled of view,
Lay lilies, roses, daffodils,
Of pallid, dark grey hue.
Among these mourning flowers
In the morning of the dawn
The maiden Sunshine takes her brush
And paints each color on.
The lilies become amethysts,
Shining bright under her care,
And the roses blushing maidens,
Their newly-painted faces bare.
And the fairy puts away her brush,
And smiles at her works,
“I’ve made the world a fairer place,
now life in each cranny lurks.”
