What about all the things that we said we were to gain?
What happened to our dream?
Our beautiful earth is in pain.

What about sunrise, what about rain?
Our world is unraveling at the seam,
What about all the things that we said we were to gain?

What about killing the fields and plains?
As you stand there and watch the fire gleam,
Our beautiful earth is in pain.

We’re ravaging the seas and taking animal’s homes in vain,
What happened to love being the world’s theme?
What about all the things that we said we were to gain?

Why are we leaving the world with such a big stain?
We need to help clean the earth and redeem,
Our beautiful earth is in pain.

There is much we need to sustain,
We need to come together and work as a team,
What about all the things that we said we were to gain?
Our beautiful earth is in pain.

I wrote this villanelle piece because I was inspired by Michael Jackson's Earth Song. I hope people see the message I am trying to get people to understand.
