Oh! My father, he doubts me so/I know this young man will soon be my 'bo'/Dad says he's not yet a man and I'm not ready to marry/says that you know he's ready when his face is full and hairy./Dad says he's gangly and needs to be fed/I think he's handsome and ready for bed./I can't wait for a baby, well, after my marriage/and I've heard young women often miscarriage./Dad says I'm not ready, the same to my boyfriend he's willing to bet/I just have to remind him of Romeo and Juliet.

The author's comments:
This poem is inspired by Ogden Nash's The Romantic Age. Since Nash showed the father's view of his daughter's romantic life, I decided to show the daughter's views.
