I had no bills,
I had no worries,
I just sat around,
Without any fury.
I wish I could be a little kid again.

The past is gone,
I wish I could be a little kid again.

I had a lot of friends,
We were all so tight.
Now we’ve drifted apart,
And there is always a fight.
I wish I could be a little kid again.

The past is gone,
I wish I could be a little kid again.

I had no homework,
I had a bedtime.
Now homework takes hours,
Going to bed before ten is considered a crime.
I wish I could be a little kid again.

The past is gone,
I wish I could be a little kid again.

Barbie’s were fun,
And boys had cooties.
Now toys are dumb,
And we all compete for the cuties.
I wish I could be a little kid again.

The past is over,
I wish I could be a little kid again.

What inspired me to write this poem was my little sister. She always talks about how she wishes she can be older like me, and I try and tell her that older isn't always better.
