Time's fun when you're having flies!

Like little tiny lights, they fly
through dark shades of green,
hiding under leaves, a pod of glowing beans.
Perfect for the hungry children who lie

On the grass, jars in their hands, a net
in the other. The brightness in their eyes
are like the tail ends of the fireflies.
Quietly, the children sweep across the wet

pond. Mud and green on their feet, they
leave endless ripples on the water. Fishes
wiggle, and dozens of licorice
black spiders fly into the air. May

they safely land. Amidst the distant shouts and laughter,
children scurry to meet under the magic tree;
the one with all the glowing beans, The
magic will always linger, even in the hereafter.

The author's comments:
I saw a picture in a magazine that had a bunch of children running in white dresses. They were running to a really big tree that had fireflies flying all over the leaves and trunk of the tree. I was really inspired by this one photo, and eventually, I wrote a poem describing the scene as if it were really happening somewhere in the world. I want to create a magical feeling that really makes the reader inspired.
