Individual

You see me in the halls
But cannot meet my gaze
I stood up to your ‘friend’
Who mocked you in so many ways

I did what you didn’t have
The courage to do
And that gave me the strength
To bulldoze right on through

I stopped straightening my hair every day
Most of the make up stopped too
My boyfriend didn’t, doesn’t mind
He actually thinks it’s kinda cool

I was wondering at first
What my friends would say
And I was pretty nervous
That very first day

They didn’t even notice!
They didn’t even care
They didn’t ask me if I hit my head
Or fell down the stairs!

They come right up in the halls
My besties’ hair has been chopped to her fav do
That she was always afraid to try
Its cool to me, I don’t know ’bout you!

I’m not gonna say
Nobody stares or snickers,
But those who care, well, I don’t care about
And those who matter are right here
By my side
Where they’ll stay

And my boyfriend
Who’s best friend is in detention
Because the guy made a snide remark
Stood up and calmly told him to f off
And the kid punched him
Boy did it ever leave a mark!

My boyfriend takes my hand down the hall
And we walk through the crowd
Of people who could be identical twins
When we become individuals,
Then we all win

This seems to reflect a lot of possible scenarios and is very well written. Great job once again :)
