In your eyes I see the courage of a man who’s fought a war
in your arms I feel strength like I’ve never felt before
a single kiss can stop me, stop the breath within my chest
of all the things I see within you its your love that is the best
I have two ears to listen, two shoulders, take your pick
lean upon me when you’re down, by your side I swear I’ll stick
in your hands I feel the tension of a heavy, loaded gun
your dreams contain the scars of other soldiers lost too young
within your heart, compassion; a man with good intent
no camouflage can hide the soul of a purely selfless man
this heart of mine is open, albeit a little broken too
nothing you confess will change the way I feel for you
I tell you this, my soldier, so that when you are away
you’ll remember that you hold my heart, each and every day
your eyes, your arms, your kiss, yours love. Your hands and all your dreams
the anatomy of a soldier, who fights to daily live and breathe
come back to me, somehow, someway, and I promise you one thing
I’ll love you through the nightmares and repair your broken dreams

I composed this piece for my boyfriend, a member of the United States Army, whom I love and admire for all his service to this country.
