In this world, what means the most to us?
I wake up each morning and try to cover up
My flaws and imperfections
I come home each day with hurt in my heart
I do not understand. I do not understand others and
I do not understand myself

I do not understand why I seek to be more like those who hurt me. I do not understand why I feel pain.
I aim for the moon but can’t make it past the atmosphere.
I have an understanding for what I want to be
But not for whom I want to be.
I do not understand why I keep searching for the answers
When I can find the answers in myself-
Where they have been all along
