The last time we were together
I cried.
You walked slowly to the left
and I the right.

It was the final night
and I knew it was so
that we were part
when we'd been so close.

But I took a deep breath
and closed my eyes
As you went off to the left
and I to the right.

And now I somberly remember
the painful night before you died.
But something in me makes me wonder
if you're the one who's still alive.
