Illness Kills Even Golden Hearts
Our family saw you were getting tired,
A cure was still not to be seen,
So we each grabbed your hand,
and whispered, "Please don't leave me".
With waterfall eyes they watched you,
and saw you have passed away,
even though we love you dearly,
We simply can't make you stay.
Your heart of gold stopped beating,
Your hard-working soul at rest,
even with all our broken hearts,
You are definitely the best.
Friends and Family come to cry,
Who could think this man could die?
I try to stay strong for the man’s wife,
she’s been my Grandmother my whole life,
I can't hold it inside any longer,
I hug her outside weeping in sorrow,
Didn't get to say I Love You,
I'll feel the same today and tomorrow.
I go in the past and remember the call,
When he wouldn't make it the night at all,
I knew it would yet not at this time,
Then my eyes started to water and shine.
I tried to call my father,
to tell my grandfather what I said,
I needed to say I love you,
I was too late, He was dead.
