Weaving a web of deception,
Spinning a spool of lies,
Venomous consequences await,
The addictive web of excuses
Shall soon return to use you, abuse you.
Imprisoning you up in regret and sorrow,
Each little whole—a weak spot
Like a trampoline, bouncing back at you
Trapping you, caging you…
Each string another lie, controlling your future.

Adorning you, surrounding you,
But not protecting you!
Reflecting back at you,
Your true colors are finally starting to show.

Each string giving way one by one,
Penetrating this false sense of security…
Dominating innocence, blocking success,
You are unable to escape this sticky mess.

Ensnared in this never-ending pit of dread,
Incriminated, your lies are slowly unveiled.

The author's comments:
I was inspired to write this piece because I realize that many people will lie, in hopes of getting out of sticky situations. Lies do not help situations, but merely make them worse. I hope to relay this message to my readers.
