An Ode To Words

Thoughts are mere musings, articulations of the heart
till they’re spread on a page, preconceived to impart
emotions and grievances, desires and dreams
Words are the stitches that unite the seams
of one’s ruminations and reflections through time
“Words are the most powerful drug used by mankind”

They seep from my mind, flood onto the page
A rapid of eloquence true to engage
Words are chameleons, adjust to achieve
a different effect each time that they breathe
their life onto trees once vacant and void
Though words in excess are inclined to be cloyed

They stab with the power of a thousand knives
Then bestow a heart wings and urge it to fly
They’re red when they burn then fade blue as ice
Words birth love, hatred with sentiments lofty and concise
Words have the power to conquer, yes waves they can part
Undeniable is their quintessence of invisible art

You're so right. Words could be daggers through someones heart or the key to love. They're meaningful, and in my opinion actions really don't speak louder than words. Great poem, keep it up.

This is a really good poem, I just don't quite understand every word, [ that's IRONIC (; ]. The meaning is really cool how words really can cut like knifes or be kind. This is interesting, and I give props to the author. :)
