i wished on a star
like they said i should
i even closed my eyes
and thought as silently as i could

what did i do wrong?
because my wish is nothing more
was i suppose to count to three
kneel on pleading knees
or cross my pinkies sore

is it that i wasn't good this year?
so santa passed me straight
i don't like living with the fear
that my life is counterfeit

it's easy for me to believe
in what i cannot see
but it's always proving itself
to be a disappointing sea

with waves that try
to wipe my slate clean
make me a fool
of little memory

so dash me as you will
i have no force to balance you
id forget that you are the same
and try another star to be true
