A Rude Awakening
It's Christmas Eve
The kids are excited
I tell them to leave
As the tree is lighted
They race up the stairs
In there PJ's and slippers
Im all alone with some chairs
And my dogs nail clippers
I say my own prayers
And head up to bed
My husband just stares
As if he's seen something dead
I must look tired
Or at least have bad hair
Unless he's desired
To see what I'll wear
We slept in a clump
Until I started to awake
I heard a loud thump
And thought it was a quake
We ran downstairs
Only to find
Around the stairs
A big red behind
He said, "Hello"
Apologized for the noise
He gave a loud ho ho ho
And left the toys
We went back to our suite
Along with the dog
To rest until a tweet
And alot of thick fog
I heard the screaming
Of the children with glee
I thought I was dreaming
So I went to see
I couldn't believe
All the presents near
A single man can acheive
One night a year
