Darkness wraps around me
Binding my very soul
Yet I still remember innocence
That I shall never again know

Illusions now replace
My fondest memories
People think I'm insane
But I do prefer crazy

I now see the world
Through open unclouded eyes
And I also see the darkness
This species can never hide

The author's comments:
I wrote this when I realized how horrible a race we are. It means to me that we need to stop and look at what we're really doing.
