A dance I attended the other night.

Bosom friends I saw hugging, greeting each other

Beneath glowing lights that were shining so bright,

Excessively joyful to see one another.

The music played lustily, as time passed by,

And I stared as my friends would dance all around.

Pairs who wished to kiss beneath the starry sky,

They left in silence not speaking a sound.

I felt all alone, deserted and friendless

For no beau had accompanied me to the dance.

The darkness I felt deep down was endless.

Then one boy noticed I was in a dazed trance.

Meekly he asked if my friendship I'd share,

No longer alone, I was in the boy's care.
