Every Girl's Dream
Standing before her closet with heaps of clothing thrown there,
She searches her brain for options, trying to decide what to wear.
Finally settling, she dresses in jeans and a shirt colored brightly.
She knows this is important; first dates shouldn’t be taken lightly.
Nervously, she waits. Tick tock, tick tock goes the clock.
Since they’re going bowling, should she bring her own socks?
Who would’ve thought she’d go on a date with the hottest guy in school.
Oh my gosh, this was going to make her so cool.
Promptly at 6:17 the doorbell rings.
She gets so excited she could practically sing.
Flinging the door wide, she smiles and breathes, “Hey Joe.”
He grabs her hand and says, “C’mon, let’s go.”
Driving to the bowling alley, he starts to talk.
She gets the feeling he thinks of himself as a big jock.
He rambles on about himself, and when he’s done
They sit in silence. She thinks, “This isn’t very fun.”
He doesn’t answer her questions nor ask her any.
She knows this is not one date to start off many.
Staring at him, she wonders what made him so alluring.
Oh well, she shrugs. Now she knows this hot guy is boring.
