All The Wrong Things To Say
It’s a simple text.
Plain as day
To read.
You don’t need
To be a smartass.
No need to read
In between the lines.
Blunt.
Just laid down that card.
It’s an unfair game.
I can’t see you
Anymore.
So what now!
Are your eyes gunna catch
On something,
Anything
When I pass?
Just so you don’t
Have to feel the guilt
Of knowing you’re
The tears
My face is drowning in.
Are you going to
Let the phone ring
When my name shows up
On the caller ID?
Pretend to occupy
Your time
Just so you don’t
Have to feel the guilt
Of knowing you’re
The poison
My heart is dying in.
Or are we gunna
Play this game
That no one wins
Where we pretend
Everything’s okay.
Yet I’m left with
The hole
Where your love
Use to fill.
But you’ll keep
That mask
Hiding your face.
Just so you don’t
Have to see the
The scars
And know,
You’re not the only one
Who’ll never be the same.
