   My Heart,

Thump-Thud

against my mattress,

in the mouse-quiet,

stagnant stillness,

of night.

Thump-Thud

scares me,

my heart does,

its beat bouncing,

off the mattress springs.

Thump-Thud

for way in the

depths of my cogitating mind,

a stream of terrifying,

utter consciousness flows,

thick like blood.

Thump-Thud

No-flow it does not,

It fiercely Thump Thuds

warning me

each

Thump-Thud

is closer to

the final....

Thump

Thud

death.
