Me MAG

By Anonymous

"Brave, outspoken, smart" they all say

But deep down I know

That one day

When the icy, tormenting wind blows

The facade of my indifferent frame

that I will be the same

As any other scared, defenseless soul

with its heart and soul open to attack.

"Going places, talented, well-rounded" they all say

But deep down I know

That they don't know the difference anyway

For they don't know how I run so

from all I consider foreign or strange.

Yes, it's true it is life's tide

that I am afraid of.

In one word it is change

going, spinning, twirling around

Threatening to take it with me and I drown

in a sea of despair and confusion.

...they all say they all say

I've grown tired of what THEY all say

I say: I am Me.

I am made of my own characteristics and flaws

And at times the claws

Of my defenses

Scratch at the hearts of those I love.

No one can take the I away from Me.

Love it! It's the plight of people imagining you are somewhere near perfect.
