Do you remember?
When you caught the ball,
How your cleats dug into the ground
Like a dog,
How you dove,
Across the grass,
How the ball
Landed in your glove
How the crowd cheered
When the umpire yelled
You’re Out!
Do you remember?
Your first at bat,
How you walked up to the plate,
How you watched the pitcher
Throw the ball,
How you swung
With all your might?
How you watched it fly
Into the stands,
How you ran
From base to base.
Do you remember?
How the crowd screamed,
How they clapped their hands,
How they stomped their feet.
Do you remember?
Entering the dugout
How your team
Greeted you,
How you helped
Your team
Win the Game,
How you gave
Kids hope
That they could do
Do you remember?
Your interview
After the game,
How you answered
The questions
About how together
You just won
The Game!
