By Jackie C., Hamden, CT

A pale fire went out as I lit a million stars.

They danced across the sky, undescriminating and happy.

They were there for me to wish upon and to make my dreams come true.

Magic pulsed through the air as I reached up to hold them.

Clutching the precious lights with my voice,

"Star light star bright, first star I see tonight"

I wished I had forever.

I wished for eternity

I wished for tomorrow to come.

And the next day did.

As did the next.

The secret to the stars is to know what to wish for

and never stop believing in it.
