   When I am expecting nothing

Everything becomes expected

He was not expected

Now he is everything

We fit perfectly

Just like a new pair of jeans

Snug and very tight

Not worn out and faded.

What a surprise

The greatest one ever

Like that cherry red car on your 16th birthday,

The puppy with the red ribbon on his head,

but

He was the best thing I ever unwrapped

I worry about the surprises of the future

Hoping no more to come

I pray he feels like I do

Ready to share our feelings;

Love, dedication, loyalty

I dread the day he says surprise, surprise.
