The Hitchhiker | Teen Ink

The Hitchhiker MAG

By Anonymous

   Walking down a seemingly endless road,

Searching for an answer

That remains to be seen;

Finding only confusion,

Constantly dodging obstacles

That jump into her path.

Running won't help,

It only makes the journey more arduous.

Fatigued, the hitchhiker sits on the side of the road,

And ponders life's mysteries.

She gets up and continues to walk,

And her quest becomes increasingly difficult;

The solutions she is looking for

Seem so far away.

Again, she stops, slightly dazed,

Her search for an answer temporarily detained,

As she wonders,

"What was the question?"

... the journey resumes.

Good job.

This was a pretty good poem the first time I read it. The second time I read it through (and even though I don't think this was your intention at all) the whole 'search for an answer' and 'what was the question?' made me think of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. :)
