Magic
She held your hand for so long,
So when did it become numb and cold to the touch?
It’s like the moment you lost interest,
Was the moment you lost feeling.
In all regards, sweetheart--
She’s held it long enough to know you’re lying.
And every moment you pull away,
Is another tear dropped for you.
Like a trapped door,
She stands unknowing she will fall.
And you’ll be just the one to pull the lever--
Just the one to let her down.
So take your time,
Ease her slowly towards the center of your stage..
Make her feel warm and welcomed..
Then, throw in the magic.
Dim the lights,
And take her hand and tell her to just trust and believe,
And the moment her grip loosens on your hands,
Drop her quickly and cold,
And nobody knows--
Where did she go?
You’re jobs not to prove yourself,
Its to put on a show.
You’re a good actor.
A fraud, a fake.
You give nothing, and keep all you take.
And from the moment she hit’s the floor,
It goes dark and she’s left alone.
She knows your tricks,
But to the audience,
You’re flawless and magical.
To her,
You’re just a mystery,
But she’s the only one that figured you out.
