Freedom from the stress
Freedom to express

My heart pours out
My emotions show without doubt

I show anger
and sadness
With all that I possess

All this through my motions
Swift as the ocean

I feel the music.
Into place my mind clicks

It’s my time to relax
As my woes are unpacked

My troubles fly away
As below I sway

I thank God for the chance
To live through my dance

The author's comments:
My lyrical dance class inspired this poem. Unlike other forms of dance, such as tap or jazz, lyrical allows more emotion and expression. It's as if I am able to let go from the world, if only for an hour each week.
