My Cousin, My Idol | Teen Ink

My Cousin, My Idol MAG

By Anonymous

   Bleached blonde hair

(dark at the roots)

with purple highlights,

(Grape Kool-aid)

tye-die and plaid

beads and chains

tights and boots

and long gauzy skirts

At 17 you were everything

at 7 I was so boring

"Don't worry, your time will come"

But what happened to you?

Now your hair is brown

(naturally)

with golden highlights

(Clairol)

Blouses and pleated skirts

Pearls and lockets

Sweater sets and pumps

And pressed khaki pants

And crisp, clean clothes

At 27 you're so boring

At 17 I'm afraid my time will come

i love your poem. It's so truthful and amazing. Does your cousin know that they're your idol? I'm scared to tell my idol how i really feel incase it damages our relationship. I'm 6 years younger and we're both girls. Any advice from anyone on how to tell them how i really feel ??

Love the poem,
