Ell Pond MAG

By Anonymous

The air is bitter,

Like betrayal.

And here I sit,

Ready to be hurt

By the world

Because my eyes are not brown enough,

I don't have con-NEC-shuns,

I'm not on a first name basis with

Dan Rather,

Instead of a washboard stomach,

I have Silly Putty,

I'm not a twenty-one-year-old

PLAYWRIGHT.

And you are

The only one

Who can make me

Happy

And you are

The only one

Who can make me

Hurt.

But now that I know

pain,

Will I ever be hurt

again?

I am lying on my back,

Beached whale,

Tears in my eyes,

Begging the sky,

Please don't do this to me

Please don't do this to me

Please don't do.

I wonder,

Here on the bank

of Ell Pond,

If I go in,

Will it be a new womb?

Maybe I won't want

To come back,

Maybe I'll find

The lost continent of

Atlantis

And I'll never return.

"They call it

Ell Pond

Because it's shaped

Like an

L."

I wonder -

Does the "L"

Stand for

"Love?"
