   Looking

staring blankly at nothing

as though no thoughts occupy

his mind.

Motionless

are his eyes as he mumbles to himself

then silence ...

I wonder what he sees

in his mind.

Colors

no, but sounds that echo throughout

the darkness.

His eyes, turquoise, like the sea

so cold, but yet warm.

Is he looking at me?

Yes, perceiving me as a sound

not a picture.

A woman screams

he does not move

his eyes but his cane

taps the ground as he

hobbles away.
