I am a long forgotten present,
Three Christmases ago,
Replaced one time over,
And many more to go.

Sometimes I think and wonder,
What might I be
If Christmas hadn’t come this year,
And you’d open your eyes to see.

So sitting in this corner,
I wait for you to come,
Hoping just this time
That I would be the one.

The author's comments:
I started to think of Christmas, and how every year we all got new presents. But, I then thought about what would happen to the old presents from previous years, and wondered if they were alive and real, what they might be feeling.
