How I Grew So Distant

The sky is so blue
The grass so green
Yet in my mind
I can only see grey
My feelings are numb
My heart feels so cold
I feel like the rain never pours
And the stars never shine
People with masks for faces
Walking in perfect, straight lines
It’s all like a game
Some silly, old test
One I can’t live
Or know how to pass
Why do they do this
Why do it to me
I don’t even know who I am
Or who I’m supposed to be
I’m in so much pain
And I can’t tell you why
For you to understand
You need an open mind
I have been like this
Since I was a child
But of course back then
This all was quite mild
As the years rolled on
And I grew older
Things kept going wrong
And my emotions became colder
I now feel so distant
So very far away
Let’s hope my feelings come back
And this time they stay
