Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. -Hellen Keller

Heart beating fast
I try to breathe
I look to you
But cannot see
I try to search
But never find
The longer you're gone
I lose my mind
I start to get scared
I fall to the ground
I call to you now
But don't hear a sound
I'm desperate for you
And I don't have much time
And I miss those sweet days
When your love was mine
Your comforting voice
Is what I need to hear
I need to know that you love me
Know that you're near
I'll reach out my hand
And wait for you embrace
And smile at memories
Of your brilliant face
I'll find you again
I don't doubt this at all
And I'll take you with me
The next time I fall

The author's comments:
This poem is actually about searching for God during a panic attack, which are something that I have quite often. Following my diagnosis with anxiety disorder I sort of lost touch with my faith and felt very lost and confused at first. The lines of the poem are very short to represent my pulse increasing during an attack and to hint at the urgency I'm feeling.
