Cradle Song This work has been published in the Teen Ink monthly print magazine.

By
   quiet rain from quiet skies

weeping willows, dragonflies

someone singing lullabies ...

sleep.

drowsy stars, a dreaming moon

a night-time lake, a lonely loon

night's black cloak will hide them soon ...

sleep.

enchanted castles in the air

enchanted people dancing there

magic wanders everywhere ...

sleep.

flying fish and burning seas

singing foxes, walking trees

wonders that the closed eye sees ...

sleep.

a lullaby, a witch's spell

poison in the wishing well

the thirteenth tolling of a bell ...

sleep.

a deaf man hears a silent scream

things aren't always what they seem

nightmares haunt a pleasant dream ...

sleep.

never mind, you'll never know

on and on and so and so

just hear my singing, sweet and low ...

and sleep.
