Linens MAG

By Anonymous

   Tugging on all sides,

Like a bed sheet pulled taut

By four friends,

One wrenching at each corner.

The seams are about to explode,

And I, the seamstress,

Can only stand by powerless,

And watch the sacrilege.

Remembering all the work I've put into the covering

To keep my friends warm during the cold winters

Makes me hate them,

As they rip my love apart.

A friendship out of time,

And out of patience to compete

With the animosity endured each day.

I see the decay of companionship

And the waste of so many good years.

Now I stand helpless,

And watch them tear to shreds

What I need,

And what I have worked so long

To maintain.
