To Daedalus MAG

By Anonymous

   I am young,

I am impulsive;

I aim for the sky.

Dear father,

You who fashioned my wings,

Let me fly.

Oblivious to your warnings

I may yet

Attempt to touch the sun

And fall

Burning

To the ground.

I, sprung

From your loins,

May yet dissolve

Into the foaming sea

And dash your hopes

Upon Icarian shores.

But know that

I must take flight now

or remain

forever

in the prison

of your love.

Father,

Let me fly.
