We say pretty women.
But is that the truth?
Is it really?
Is it pretty women or pretty products?
Complexion or cosmetics?
Make-up or make-believe?
We are blind to greater values.
The choice is always the lesser of two–
Vanity over virtue.
Face-paint over fairness.
Pride over piousness.
Accessories over amiability.
Waste over worth.
Lust over laudability.
And then beauty succumbs to emptiness.
Vanity becomes the sorry excuse for wasted lives,
But we embrace it as a brother,
Blind to its harm, believing that it serves a purpose,
And accepting it until it consumes us with hatred.
It is nothing more than a scam; a demon
That steals our hearts and takes control of our God-given lives.
Such is the perversion of the Modern Age.
We say pretty women.
But is that the truth?
Is it really?

Thank you. And I don't mean it to be condescending, but it is the truth, as you said.

This is an amazing poem. It is the truth, as horrible as that is. Keep Writing!
