I sit on the hard, smooth boulder

watching as the sky begins to change.

Slowly the yellow-orange ball of fire

slips below the horizon.

The once-blue sky darkens

and becomes streaked with purple, red and orange

like paint spilled across the canvas.

I inhale the salty air,

as the colors gradually fade

only to be replaced

with the silvery light of the moon.

Couples, strolling hand-in-hand,

laugh with delight as the icy water swirls around their ankles as

the cool wet sand trickles between their toes,

tickling their bare feet.

I listen to the relaxing lull of the waves

crashing along the shore

and smiling

think how great it is to be home.
