Father
An unexpected slap,
My face stings,
Eyes water, but
I won’t cry.
Not in front of you.
You savagely punch me,
The air rushes out of my lungs.
I gasp for breath, like a fish
Out of water, but
I won’t show pain.
Not in front of you.
You are smart though,
Our family looks normal.
No physical scars are left
From the punishment I receive.
Remember,
Words are sometimes more hurtful than actions, But
I won’t say that.
Not in front of you.
