My Life Is Like a Sketch Book

My life is like a sketch book
The cover is like my face always changing
The pictures are my dreams
The pages are my memories
The binding is my family and friends holding me together
The pencil is my brain jotting down my thoughts
The lead breaking is my mistakes
The finished pictures are my past
The half finished pictures are the present
The blank pages are my future
The fading pictures are the memories I’m trying to forget
The smudges are the tears that I cried
The eraser marks are my healing scars
The doodles are my thoughts that seem to take up the pages
My life is like a sketch book because
I take my life one page at a time

The author's comments:
This was an English assignment. We had to compare ourselves to something other than another person. I couldn't think of anything better than my favorite sketch book.
