She said “I would give up on that thing
you call being together”
My mouth couldn’t even start to form
the response “I wish I could”
It’s painful
So much of us is painful
It hurts me to be with you
But I couldn’t endure the pain I would
feel away from you
Like the earth without the moon
I couldn’t see
I couldn’t be
If I were without you
And it brings tears to my eyes,
how much I need you
