Murder in the Night

April 8, 2009
The way they fall to the ground
Spots of blood all around
On my face and in my hair
I knew their lives ended there

The bloody knife lies beside a dead one
What caused this deed to be done?
The shrieks of terror still pound my head
The evil dwelling in me has been fed

Why did this happen I wonder still?
Why me, why must I kill?
Now I leave the bodies behind
I guess I am out of my mind

I do not want to do this anymore
I must, this feeling I cannot ignore
Grab the knife, for now it is mine
Draw in blood and make my sign

I was here and they will know
Who am I? I’ll never show
The light of the moon across my face
Stares back at me with disgrace

The knife in hand drips blood on the floor
How much more can I endure?
The night is quiet, peaceful, and still
Who would know that I needed to kill?

I walk away without a care
I think about it, I wouldn’t dare
For that could make the feeling awake
That thought still makes my body shake

“Again”, a voice speaks to me
“No more”, I say “let me be”
The anger builds up inside
“Not again”, I sighed
