People Lie to Children

They only want you to grow
Big and strong
To change their bedding
In 74 years,
So they tell you little lies
To keep your
Little hearts
Beating.

They say that God saves
Those who die
And doctors only mean well.

Those are acceptable lies.

But I cringe when I think
That some people say,

“Eat your rice,
Or they'll cry.”
