Rain
Pit pat pit pat
The rain wakes me from a dream
And oh what a lovely dream.
My window,
Wide open,
Lets the rain seep in
Slowly, so slowly, I rise.
As I near the open window,
The rain, the smell of that rain,
Is just enough to keep me there.
I close my eyes,
My dream continues,
The rain enhancing my vision.
I open my eyes,
My view, breathtaking.
I make my way to the porch,
Slowly, so slowly,
The wood floor under my feet cool and smooth.
When I open my screen door,
There’s the smell of that rain again,
Not strong, inviting,
So inviting.
I step onto my porch,
Slowly, so slowly,
The heat enveloping me like a blanket.
I look down the road,
Long and barren.
A figure.
There’s a figure on my long barren road.
Dark hair
Beautiful.
Pouring, the rain is pouring, he’s soaked.
He’s clo-
His eyes,
Oh
Those eyes,
They go on forever.
He creaks onto my porch.
One step at a time,
Creak creak creak.
He takes my face in his hands.
I shiver,
His hands are cold and wet,
But strong, so strong,
And
Gentle.
Gentle.
He looks at me
He sees me
He knows,
He knows everything
He knows me.
Easily,
Unthreateningly
Loves me.
I dare not close my eyes,
He’s so
Beautiful,
All over
Through and through.
I quiver,
Something so strong pulls me deep inside of him.
I
I know him,
Easily,
Beautifully,
I love him.
He starts to step backwards
Creak creak creak down those three stairs.
He lifts his face to the rain,
It soaks his beautiful features.
He turns to face me and opens his arms.
I smile,
Wide and beautiful.
I jump off the porch into his arms
Our lips touch,
Soaked by the rain.
His hands holding me to him,
My legs,
Around his waist,
Keeping me up.
The kiss,
So slow, so soft, so
Perfect in that rain.
