To dance in a dream and make winter seem
like it's June
To run in the rain and wash out the pain
in a puddle
To sing to a star and play the guitar
on the moon
To laugh with a lilt and make the earth tilt
on an edge
To spin in a square and to take up a dare
with a spoon
To love the blue land and sleep in the sand
from the air
To make blue swishes and small red wishes
to a tune
To fly on the wind and sing with thoughts pinned
down to earth
To do all these things and fly without wings …
such are strewn
wishes in the breeze, tossed and tangled and mine
like it's June
