When I grow Up- Me Is What I'll Be

By , Mattapan, MA
They bombard me
Many questions are asked
My true feelings and personality are masked
Weighed down with the fact that life is too short
'But has anyone realized that life is too long? '
I wish to retort.

I've been living since forever
The start of my life?
I can't even remember...

Why do you bother with finding my lifetime career
when you should feel sympathetic
for this young child's self esteem,
which you tear..

I'm sorry if you missed your train.
Its gone.
but this is my time,
so be gone!

Around you
I can't be myself.
I have to be fake.
But this of all,
would be my greatest mistake.

When I grow up
I wish to be me.

Something beautiful and lovely.
Something talented, a prodigy.

Me is what I'll be
and with that I'll succeed
and the person inside will be freed.

I can relate. People are always asking what I want to be, so I just tell them that whatever it is that I choose, I'll still be me and that's all that matters. Great job! ZERO
