When you are born you are given a soul
Fresh, new, untouched, completely vulnerable
As time passes, you ignore this gift
The actions of others
The things you do
Your soul takes many hits
In no time at all you are old and worn
Suddenly, you realize your time is gone
You search deep within
Reaching to the dusty cracks inside
What will you find?
The scars of how others have treated you
How you treated yourself
Not specific actions
But how you felt
Your one fear as you look around
Is that darkness thrives
No happiness is found
You wonder- what am I to do?
Well, I’m sorry to say this
But you’re out of time
Your body has died
And soon will your mind
You scream a warning to the world
It’s useless, unheard, ignored
You wish you could tell them
But slowly your soul breaks
You push on, trying, whispering with all your strength
Take time, look inside
PEOPLE! Love- not hate!
Now you are gone
One shot was given
And yours was blown
So life moves on
Another baby
Another soul is born
But one question still lingers
Will it live? Will we ever learn?
Or, like those before
Will its life end in mourn?

Whoa. This is so awesome. And sadly...so true.
